ANOTHER walk off Giants win?

I pity the editor who will make the end of the year highlight tape. How many of these will they have to choose from? The Champs are 1 back in the loss column.By tomorrow evening they could be in first place. Why do I have a feeling it will end with the team jumping up and down after a Giant touches home plate?

Is it just me or does every Giants game end with a walk off celebration?

It sure seems that way, doesn't it?Another day and another frenzy at AT&T Park.It seems like they win their games on the ROAD in walk off fashion. It's amazing that they are only one game over .500 with all the wild celebrations that they've had.I can't help but think the fact that the Giants are 4-1 against Colorado will help them down the road.I bet another walk off is in store for tomorrow...

After you... no after you

Was it just me or did neither the Mets nor the Giants seemed interested in winning this game tonight? The Giants get the go ahead run in scoring position in the 8th... Gotch. The Mets get the go ahead run in scoring position in the 8th... nada. The Giants load the bases in the 9th... zilch. The Mets get a lead off double in the bottom of the 9th... zippo.FINALLY it took a Huff homer in the 10th and

This Lincecum fellow isn't bad

Not sure if you noticed or not... but this kid can pitch. And the Giants made a very interesting statement tonight. They went into Colorado, who were red hot and only lost 3 games all year (and as I wrote earlier, 2 of those losses were extra inning affairs.)The light hitting Giants made sure the Rockies were down 5 runs before they even came to bat. And Lincecum made sure they didn't get as much

Barry Bonds, Steroids and the Burden of Proof at a Barbecue

In the summer 2007, I was at my parents house for a barbecue. My dad was grilling up salmon and a swordfish, and something you should know about my dad: He cooks a terrific swordfish. And while he was grilling, we did what we tend to do 365 days a year which is talk about baseball. My dad was, is and always will be a rabid San Francisco Giants fan and he was talking about Barry Bonds and his chase

Awesome overload at AT&T Park

There will never be a night like this again in San Francisco.Oh there might be another ring ceremony by China Basin. And there will no doubt be another "down to the last strike surreal walk off win" for the Giants. So far they have had two in two home games this year. But there will never be a first ring ceremony again.Never again will there be a night where Hall of Famers Willie McCovey and

A great day for three Yankees with bad timing

The Giants and their coaching staff got their World Series rings yesterday. And for three members of the coaching staff it was especially sweet.Dave Righetti, Hensley "Bam Bam" Meulens and Roberto Kelly were all supposed to be big parts in a revamped Yankees team in the late 1980s and early 1990s. Unfortunately for them, the Yankees were dreadful when they played for them.Had they played for the

The Giants won with Defensive Indifference

You didn’t think it would be an easy win for the Giants did you?OF COURSE the Giants had to blow the 9th inning, come back in the bottom of the 9th and have an extra inning marathon. But the game also shows why “Defensive Indifference” is such a crock and should be eliminated.I talked about it in a Sully Baseball video (linked below). In that video I came up with a hypothetical situation where “

As usual, Bonds takes the walk

The Government is no different than any pitcher who face Barry Bonds from 2000 to 2007. They just let him walk. It's not quite an intentional walk, but they clearly didn't pitch to him.Bonds' camp didn't even produce one witness. Why bother? I wasn't in the court room and my entire knowledge of the law is watching Jack McCoy kick ass. But when the defense doesn't call a witness, isn't that the

Hey Giants... PACE YOURSELF

Seriously, you may want to spread the runs around a little more evenly. The Giants have played three games this season so far, all against Los Angeles. The champs have outscored the Dodgers, 14-6.They've out hit the Dodgers... they've out slugged the Dodgers...The Giants have pitched to an ERA of 1.08.The Dodgers have a 4.67.So naturally the Giants record in those three games is 1-2.You may not

The Giants start and fact checking

It is early... but it is also safe to say that if the Defending World Champion San Francisco Giants lose the Division by a game, these 2 one run losses in Chavez Ravine will hurt.My dad, the biggest fan of the champs that I know, waved his hand. "We started the season last year being swept by the Astros. It turned out all right."I didn't remember that being the case. "No, they started awfully"

Yes Matty... for one day the Dodgers are #1

As I wrote before, I am raising one child to be a Giants fan and my other as a Dodgers fan.And while one son, Aidan, is rooting for the Defending Champs, my other boy Matty has the upper hand for at least a day.The Giants didn't do much to change their appearance of being all pitch and no hit and torturing their fans. I still think the Giants are winning the division and the Dodgers are in for

Giants fans... your team is called THE DEFENDING WORLD CHAMPION SAN FRANCISCO GIANTS

I expect your ALL to refer to your team that way all season. It doesn't matter how many times you say "Giants" in a sentence... you need to call them by their full name."The Defending World Champion San Francisco Giants are playing today. Batting lead off for the Defending World Champion San Francisco Giants will be Andres Torres. Then Freddy Sanchez, the secondbaseman for the Defending World

When Duke Snider helped the Giants beat the Dodgers

On May 2, 1964, the Giants played the defending World Champion Dodgers at Chavez Ravine. In the 9th inning, Dodgers pitcher Joe Moeller had a 4-2 lead and looked to get the complete game victory.Willie McCovey led off the inning with a walk. Up next was the new Giants left fielder... Duke Snider.Yup... The Duke of Flatbush actually finished his career as a Giant. The whole "Willie, Mickey and the

It looks cool, doesn't it Giants fans?

It's real. The Giants really did win the World Series.I remember in 2005, I had to stop and pause every time I heard someone call the Red Sox "The Defending World Champions."It made the whole year pretty cool.Enjoy it.Giant fans have earned it.

Hey! In the San Francisco Bay Area, I have the cover story!

So I got a copy of the USA Today 2011 MLB Preview in the mail. It's the magazine that I have an article in.The Los Angeles cover has the Angels and Dodgers on the front. But evidently the San Francisco cover asks the questions if the Giants will repeat.Well seeing that I wrote one of the Giants repeating articles, I guess that means I wrote the cover story! And least that's what I am telling

My video has passed Tris Speaker on the hit list

Thanks to a bunch of very cool links (including this one from Off the Bench at NBCSports.com) my video The Giant Alternative now has 3,574 hits. That's more hits than Tris Speaker.Next on the list?Stan Musial with 3,630.I wonder if it will pass Stan the Man!Either way, here's the video in case you haven't seen it.And if you liked it, pass it around.I am making a new one tomorrow.

Something special happens around 0:59 of this video

7th inning of Game 5...Lee and Lincecum are locking antlers in a pitchers duel...Giant fans at the Public House watching. For the first minute of this video, everyone is paying close attention, but know there are 2 outs, Cliff Lee is not the pinata he was in Game 1, and that a scoring opportunity may be squandered here.I mean how many times can Edgar Renteria come through for the Giants. Then the

The Giant Alternative - A Sully Baseball Video

In my latest video, I question what MLB has done to appeal to younger fans and ask why they aren't marketing the World Champions more.Filmed on location at AT&T Park... camera work by my lovely wife.

My last post for 2010

I guess it is appropriate that I am in San Francisco for the last day of 2010.For all time, 2010 will be associated in baseball with the Giants and their unlikely title. It was a good year to be a Giants fan... just ask my dad.It was a good year to be a Rangers fan.It was a good year to have Roy Halladay on your fantasy team.It was a good year to be Joe Mauer or Adrian Gonzalez's accountant. And it
